These days, the Sudanese Accreditation Council is making preparations to complete the requirements and conditions required to submit an application for membership in the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation(ILAC), the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the African Accreditation Organization Cooperation (AFRAC).
This was announced in a statement to SUNA by Dr. Kamal Al-Hadi, General -Secretary of the Sudanese Accreditation Council, noting that the steps to approve the proposed functional and organizational structure of the Council have gone a long way after the approval of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, and it was also approved by the Governance and Administration Sector in the Council of Ministers.
With regard to the Council’s relations externally, Dr. Kamal said that the council participated in the meetings of the general assembly of the Arab accreditation body that was held in Tunisia from 8-11 last February, where an introductory presentation was made to the members about the council. For the Arab body and membership of the Multilateral Recognition Agreements Committee.
A meeting was also held with a team from the International Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), headed by the Director of the Cooperation Project, during which they discussed ways to enhance technical cooperation in the field of accreditation with UNIDO.
He added that the council has now become a member of both the Arab Accreditation Body and the Accreditation Committee for Islamic Countries in Turkey, explaining that the council, within the framework of the competency test for laboratories adopted by the Arab Accreditation Organization in cooperation with the Organization of American States and the Pacific for Accreditation, obtained programs, one of which participated in the Central Oil Laboratory and the Central Services Laboratory Technical and Calibration of the Ministry of Water Resources, Irrigation and Electricity, nominated by the Sudanese Council for Accreditation, and four laboratories in the field of water were nominated to participate in another program to be implemented in the coming period
It should be noted that the Sudanese Accreditation Council was established after the Council’s law was approved as an independent and neutral entity in February 2015. The Council was formed under the chairmanship of the Council of Ministers and the membership of ministries and institutions related to the public and private sectors.
